Spring began this week. Or so the calendar says.
March 21 today. I want to lean into the sunshine and warmth. Put away the hats and gloves. I wash them, determined to put them back in the drawer until November. Instead, the next walk requires I pull them back out. Just one more time. Until I wash them again. Put them away again, and … let’s see what happens.
I came home to this on my windowsill today, left as a delightful surprise by a friend. A sure sign Spring is… well, at least almost here.
When I planned today’s post, it was on my list as the last winter pictures. Time to show a couple of snow paintings. Convinced it would be the late March homage to the winter that wasn’t, even as there is light snow in the forecast for Boston tomorrow night.
Planning for my spring travel, my brain has been doing virtual packing of my suitcases for the past couple weeks. Which is kinda silly, because I don’t leave for a while yet. So it’s no wonder I’m confused what time of year it is.
ALL a great reminder to be present in the moment, even as life requires us to plan for days ahead.
This first painting, from my favorite turn in the trail Black Bear at my favorite ski location, Stratton Mountain, Vermont. The last time I skied it, I assumed I would be back someday. Now, I’m not so sure, as some autoimmune muscle issues have surfaced that may prevent me from skiing again, at least at the level required to do this one from the top of the mountain. I’m working out, doing what I can, while praying for miracle healing.
Then there’s this one. Much larger. The view from, well, I’m not even sure where. It was painted from a source photo provided by a friend who skis in a lot of different places, and wasn’t even sure specifically where this one was. I’m guessing somewhere in New Hampshire or Maine.

Plan for the future. Live the moments. I saw this on Facebook recently, and took a screen shot. Wonderful words to remember.
Thank you, as always, for reading.
With love to each one of you.
