This one is so visually inspired, I’m not sure there is much for me to say.
Something about the colors used in French decorating. It just speaks to me somewhere deep. Though my origins are pretty much all German, I do wonder if there is some French blood in me of which I am unaware.
Take this dining room, at Giverny. I love the bright yellow walls, and lace curtains. I used this exact shade of yellow in some window shelves in a former kitchen.
And that terra cotta and off white floor? There was similar old floor in the gallery breezeway at my last place, if you were ever there, and I found it kinda funky cute.
A blue and white kitchen. If you’ve known me for long, well, you know. Can’t get enough of the varieties of shades I consider ‘French blue.’

So off to the library I went again, searching online for French country decorating books. I plan to indulge in those instead of video streaming for the next several weeks.
And yes, the Benjamin Moore paint store has a few less samples in their rack since I’ve come home. Not sure what I will paint, but will definitely be searching for areas in my home where I can lean into the French countryside look. Likely some painted furniture as well.
I told you this one was more visual than verbal. That’s all I have to say for now. Just enjoy the looks… and join me if you wish in dreams of French country life.
Thank you as always for reading.
With love to each of you,
Mimi
